According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five U.S. children and adults suffers from one or more forms of mental illness each year. Despite an array of effective known treatments, the majority of those with behavioral health disorders do not receive treatment, and thus needlessly suffer from distress and disability. Mental disorders are highly disabling, ranking second only to cardiovascular conditions as the leading cause of disability. These disorders impose substantial cost burdens on employers, patients, families and the community at large. That burden is further reflected in increased indirect employer costs such as lost productivity, absenteeism, and increased medical costs.

Behavioral Health Systems offers a wide range of comprehensive, easy-to-use products and services designed to assist employees and their families deal with behavioral health and substance abuse issues. At the same time, employers are able to achieve significant cost savings by changing the types and distribution of behavioral health services used by their employees. The BHS focus is on providing easy access to outpatient services to prevent more serious problems and to match appropriate services early on to the patient’s needs. Under the BHS model of intervention, not only can significant cost savings be anticipated, but also increased productivity, reduced absenteeism, fewer accidents and an overall improvement in company morale.
